Why You Should Review Your Health Insurance Every Year
BimaParichay Awareness Team · 8 August 2026 · 4 min read
Your policy is a fixed document. Your family, your city and hospital costs are not. A yearly review keeps the gap from growing quietly.
What changes between renewals
- Family composition — marriage, a child, ageing parents.
- Income and lifestyle, which affect the hospitals you would choose.
- Treatment costs at those hospitals.
- Your own health history, which affects future options.
- Product terms, which insurers may revise at renewal.
What a review looks at
A structured review reads your policy schedule and wording and lists the features and limits that matter: sum insured, room rent, co-payment, deductible, waiting periods, exclusions and members covered.
The output is understanding, not a purchase instruction. Any decision remains yours.
When to do it
Roughly one month before your renewal month gives enough time to consider changes without rushing the due date.
